SEN Patterns, home

For parents and carers of children with SEND

Built for families raising an autistic child or a child with ADHD, and useful for any child with special educational needs or disabilities, with or without a diagnosis.

You do not need a diagnosis or an EHCP

There is no form to fill in and nothing to prove.

Many families start while they are on a waiting list, because that is when a record of what is happening helps most. Nobody asks for an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) either.

When sign-up asks about a diagnosis and nothing fits, choose ‘Awaiting assessment’ or ‘Prefer not to say’: no diagnosis needed.

Who uses it

Anyone who does the caring. Everything is written for parents and carers alike.

Mums and dads
Keep track of sleep, meals, moods and hard moments, without holding it all in your head.
Grandparents and kinship carers
If you are raising a child who is not your own, it works the same for you.
Co-parents in two homesFamily plan
Both homes add to the same record, so nobody has to piece the week together from memory.
Parents who are neurodivergent too
Short taps instead of long forms. No streaks, no nagging, and nothing to feel behind on.

Wherever you are right now

Every family starts somewhere different. Here is how it helps at each point.

Something feels different

You have noticed things and you are not sure what they mean yet. Write down what you see, in a few taps a day, and take a clear picture to your GP or your child’s school.

If you are worried, they are the people to talk to. The app never diagnoses your child.

On a waiting list

Waiting lists can run for months, or longer. You do not have to wait to start: by the appointment, you will have notes to bring, not just memory.

New to all this

Just been told what is going on, and support has not started yet? Start small: a gentle daily plan built from what you tell us, and help one tap away on a hard day.

Working with school

Meetings with the SENCO (special educational needs co-ordinator), an EHCP application or an annual review: what you record turns into notes you can bring.

With Family, a report to print for appointments, covering the dates you choose.

What it does for you

The everyday parts are free, for as long as you need them.
